96% Accuracy

October 19, 2005 By Al Martine

He, he, ho, ho – a quick stats funny.

During my upteenth iteration of the linear regression project for statistics I blew my previous attempts away. .967 accuracy! Holy shit! I’m the king of the world. Could it have been that easy? Just take the LOG of the Competition column? But, it had to be, look how smooth the line is … but I better check.

As I looked at the data I realised my fatal error – it was the LOG of Profit or my Y variable.

Thankfully I checked before gloating but thought the people struggling with the f#£k&*g project would appreciate it.

I’ll probably find my horse around here somewhere.
