Interesting day. Today was my first day back to ‘work’ after a year ‘off’ doing the MBA. The really bizarre part is that for the first month I’m almost right back where I started – working on fundraising for a charity and often working at home.
I couldn’t help but flash back to a year ago as the day progressed. Hit the gym at 6.30 am, back to my desk to get organised and start work by 9am. Of course, other than the overall structure of the day just about everything else is different.
My level of knowledge on the topic of strategy, business and fundraising has increased exponential. The trust (not really a charity) has a considerable donor base already and is trying to build itself from the ground up. Unlike previous employment where we had a house but all the support blocks were shaky. Or, missing.
Only 1 test and 1 major event to go before the school year concludes but Econ can wait until another night.
