Watching the iGoogle Sun Rise and Set

May 7, 2007 By Al Martine

Google introduced their themed personal home pages back in February or March back in the US.  I’ve been using this as my homepage for the last couple months.

The theme I have is of an ocean and the beach (one I’ll be drunk on come early August).  The theme is pretty clever as it tracks the sun’s movement (including darkness) according to my computer (or IP) clock.  The saddest thing over last four to 10 days has been me starting my work on the second year project (SYP for SOB) when the sky is dark; continuing to work as it is bring in the sky and watching a lovely desktop sunset as I’m doing now.

Soon the stars will be out.  If I get tired enough while at the keyboard, sometimes they’ll shoot.

I try not to stare directly at the sun; in case I go blind.  Funny, if I go blind while sitting at a computer; would it really be because of the iGoogle sun?   I think I’ll stare at it until the thing sets and then go back to work (hint it doesn’t automatically reset).
