I don’t know if I mentioned it but my new laptop arrived earlier this week. It’s a great little machine (IBM/Lenevo X41 Tablet Review) and I’m enjoying carrying around 2 lbs worth of kit rather thank an estimated 1000 lbs per my other laptop.
Michael at Cheycomm Solutions in Charlotte, NC really hooked me up. Had UPS not applied the very special form of customer service (read: rubbish) the entire process would have been very smooth.
But now I’m faced with a new challenge. My home PC has all my Outlook data but on a daily basis I’ll be updating the X41. How does one a) transfer Outlook data to a new PC b) keep the stuff up-to-date?
I haven’t tackled the second question – yet – but think I’ve at least found the needed data. It requires going into the dark and mysterious world of *.pst files. These files – apparently – house all the Outlook data. E-mails, contacts, to-do lists, et. al are all located there.
I think I found an article that explains how to find them:
As for keeping the two files synced, I’m still thinking about a solution. In fact, I haven’t actually gotten the files from one computer to another but will be trying later today.
Any suggestions on keeping the two synced?
