May 5, 2009 By Al Martine

“Multitasking is a myth,” Ms. Gallagher said. “You cannot do two things at once. The mechanism of attention is selection: it’s either this or it’s that.”   A great article on how to improve concentration and the science behind it. Ear Plugs to Lasers: The Science of Concentration

Pandemic

April 29, 2009 By Al Martine

We’ve been hearing a lot recently about Swine Flu turning into a pandemic and that a pandemic is bad.  The second part is normally not stated but the assumption that if something turns into a pandemic it’s not good.  The word sounds dangerously close to epidemic and it isn’t a happy sounding word, in fact […]

Content Portal

April 15, 2009 By Al Martine

I’ve spent the last few hours researching content management systems for a potential new website focused on building a knowledge base of information that could be used by anyone needing information on Alzheimer’s or dementia.  The specific content and design is still up in the air since we don’t want to duplicate other efforts, but […]

Defensive Strategies: The Dark Side of PR

March 31, 2009 By Al Martine

When faced with terrible information on our business, we have three options.  The first option is to ignore the data and assume everything is okay.  The second option is to see the data and tackle the problems head-on so we can find out the truth and fix what needs to be fixed.  And finally, there’s […]

A Benchmark for Getting it Right: Cooper Ridge

March 22, 2009 By Al Martine

Over the last couple weeks I’ve decided to stop worrying about the next big phase for the foundation and focus on just learning (and sharing) more about the world of dementia and Alzheimer patient care by posting the articles on the charity’s blog.
Today was supposed to be another day to post a highlight or lowlight […]
